Tell the chemical industry to stop spreading lies
Toxics like phthalates, lead and bishphenol-A, that can cause serious developmental problems, continue to show up in children's products in Maryland. Please sign this petition to the American Chemistry Council to urge them to stop lying about the dangers of these chemicals. Petition Text:
The use of dangerous toxic
chemicals, like phthalates and bisphenol-A, in our children’s toys has to stop.
For years the scientific evidence documenting the long-term developmental harm
caused by these toxins has been mounting, and yet the American Chemistry Council
continues to proclaim their safety. The European
Union, the state of California, and 14 other countries around the
world have already taken action to ban these chemicals in children’s
products because of the growing health risk. Maryland’s children deserve the same
protection, and yet your lobbyists continue to stand in the way of that
protection by clinging to the last remnants of biased and inconclusive evidence
from industry-funded research. The below signed urge the American Chemistry
Council to stop distorting the evidence, and acknowledge the harm that
phthalates and bisphenol-A pose to Maryland’s growing
children.
