Overview

In October 2006, Constellation Energy announced plans to build the nation’s largest nuclear power plant in southern Maryland.

Nuclear power is a poor solution to Maryland’s energy and global warming problems. Not only is nuclear power extremely expensive, but it also poses threats to public safety and the environment.

Maryland PIRG is working to stop the construction of a new nuclear reactor in Maryland and is advocating for safer and more affordable alternatives.

Maryland PIRG’s David Kosmos explains to reporters why Constellation should turn its back on plans to build a new nuclear reactor and pursue safer, cleaner and cheaper solutions to our energy problems.
